Summer is officially here (well, not officially but it’s after Memorial Day so you know what I mean). Anyways that means it’s time to start lounge by the pool or hang out at the beach. It also means that if you haven’t updated your swimwear in a while now it the perfect time.

Today, I’m rounding up 7 fun swimwear trends to check out for summer 2021!

Swimwear Trends for 2021

Glammed-Up Swimwear

This summer glammed-up swimwear is going to be super popular. I’m talking sequins, metallics, and shimmery suits! I think after over a year of wearing sweats we are ready to bring back dressing up! Even if that means getting super glamorous for a beach day. So put on your shiny bikini, shimmery body oil, and grab your beach bag cuz you’re ready for a day in the sun!

Ruffles

Ruffles and swimwear are a match made in heaven! I would even hesitate to call ruffles a trend because it always seems to be in style. Although this year it seems like the ruffles are more dramatic than ever like the ones on this chic one-piece.

Asymmetrical

I’ve been seeing a lot of asymmetrical or one-shoulder swimwear this season. This completely makes sense as one-shoulder tops are very popular these days! My favorite swimwear featuring this style is a one-piece. Like this cute pink one-shoulder and cut-out suit!

Retro

Retro swimwear is hot for summer 2021! High-waisted bikinis have been in style for some time now but we are also talking about retro prints and necklines. I love these suits because they are super flattering and give you that pin-up girl vibe!

String Bikini

If you’re not afraid to show a little more skin at the beach then the string bikini might be for you. Classic triangle tops and simple colors are where it’s at when it comes to this style. You definitely can’t go wrong with a classic black string bikini!

Underwire

When I first noticed that underwire bikini tops were in style I wasn’t on board. My initial thought was most of my bras have underwire and it’s not the most comfortable. Why would I want my bikini to have underwire too? But after seeing these styles I can see why they have become popular. They are so flattering and give you a little lift if that’s your style. I especially love this paisley and leopard printed bikini by River Island!

Cutouts

I love cutout anything! Bodysuits, dresses, tops, and yes even swimwear. I know what you’re thinking – um what about the uneven tan lines? Well, I’ve never been able to solve that problem but to me, it’s worth it. Maybe just try rotating your styles regularly and you won’t get such crazy tan lines. I find that if you choose the right piece that the cutouts can be so flattering. Not to mention very spicy… at least I think so!

Oh I am so on board with the ruffle trend. I tall and kind lanky so I think it helps to off set this. I saw one suit on sale at Love Shack Fancy that I so want!
