My night routine tends to change throughout the year but there are a few steps that I like to take almost every single night. Since you all loved reading about my morning routine I figured I’d give you some insight as to what my night routine looks like.
Remember these are the things that I do most nights in order to wind down and have a productive day. If your routine doesn’t look like this that’s OK! The point is that you come up with something that works for you. Keep reading for the exact steps I take for my night routine!

My Night Routine
Turn down the lights
The first step in my nighttime routine is to create a more relaxed environment in preparation for a restful sleep. Instead of using overhead lighting, I turn on my lamps including my sea salt lamps for a relaxed vibe. Dimming the lighting not only helps to create a more peaceful environment but it helps tell your body that it’s time to wind down for the night.
Once my environment is nice and cozy it’s time for a shower and skincare. I like to use a hydrating shower gel that contains essential oils like lavender. Lately, I’ve been using the Native Candy Cane Body Wash. It doesn’t smell overwhelmingly like candy cane which is actually a nice surprise. The scent is subtle thanks to the use of essential oils!
I always follow up my shower with a rich moisturizing lotion. I love the way that the OGX Hydrating Moisture + Shea Soft & Smooth Body Lotion smells. And the shea butter really hydrates your skin! I always change into my sleepwear after I’ve finished my skincare because I like to make sure to take the skincare down to my chest. Like Lauren Everts Bosstick from The Skinny Confidential always says take it to the tits! After my skincare is done I change into my cozy sleepwear for the night. Turn on my essnetail oil diffuser
I’m all about creating a mood. An essential oil diffuser is amazing for helping you to calm and remove stress at night. I will turn it on a few hours before bed and fill it with sleepy time oils. I have an entire post about why you should invest in an essential oil diffuser.
Prepare for the next day
In order to make my mornings less hectic, I make sure to have everything I need for work out and ready to go. I have my breakfast, lunch, supplies for work in my bag, and workout gear all set up so all I have to do in the AM is grab my stuff and go. If I have any ideas for work or any thoughts floating around in my head I will go ahead and write that down as well. It’s amazing how much better you sleep when you get everything out of your head.
While I can’t sleep with music on I do like to play some calming music as I am winding down for bed. I have a few playlists in my rotation and it’s mostly instrumental. I’ve been enjoying acoustic guitar, indie, soulful songs, and sometimes ambient music. Check out the links below for a few of my favorite playlists on Spotify.
Tea or Four Stigmatic
If you’ve been following me on Instagram then you know that I am a tea lover. I’ve worked with SipsBy a tea subscription in the past and they have always provided an amazing selection of teas in each box. I will usually make a cup of camomile or sleepy time tea at the end of the night. If I’m having a chocolate craving I will go for the rishi hot cocoa by Four Sigmatic for a more decadent treat.
I always like to have a book on my bedside table that I can read a few pages of before bed. I tend to go for personal development but at night I have found that I need to read something that is mostly for entertainment. I find that I can’t focus as well before bed so I want to read something that isn’t too difficult to digest. Right now I’m reading Bossy Pants by Tina Fey and it’s hilarious!
Gratitude / Review My Lavendiare Workbook
Before the night is over I will write three things that I am grateful for from that day. Having a gratitude practice really makes a difference in your overall mood and positivity. I also like to review my Lavendaire Artist of Life Workbook and check fill in the boxes for what I have accomplished that day.
This is just an example of the things that I do as a part of my nightly routine. Ideally, I would do all of these things every single night but doesn’t always happen! Some nights I don’t’ feel like having tea and other nights I’m just too tired to read. So it just depends on the day and how much time I can take on my routine. The only thing that is absolutely non-negotiable is my shower and skincare routine.
