One of my favorite things to do in the fall is to create makeup looks that are inspired by the beautiful fall foliage that we get to enjoy this time of year. I tend to go for shades of brown, orange, and gold for the eyes in order to create an autumn-inspired smoky eye look. But on days when I don’t feel like bothering with too much eye makeup, I’ll focus on the lips. I love wearing dark lipstick shades for the fall because it makes me feel super moody and vampy. That’s why I’ve decided to round up my favorite lipstick shades for fall 2020!

Lipstick Shades for Fall 2020

Burnt Orange

Orange is a color that I tend to gravitate to throughout the entire year. I find that shades of orange work really well with my olive complexion especially in the summertime when I have a tan. In the fall months, I tend to go with a darker rustier shade of orange. I like this shade because it feels appropriate for the season but it’s not too dramatic which means I can still wear it to work…er I mean for my Zoom calls!

Dark Brown

When I was a teenager in the early 00s brown lips were very much in vogue. However, as I got older I traded my signature brown lips for shades of pink and red. And while I still love those shades I’m happy that brown lips are back! I’ve been enjoying wearing rich deep shades of brown for the fall months. If I’m going to be wearing brown lips I tend to go for a more minimal eye look and fresh glowy skin. This keeps the focus on the dramatic lips!

Vampy Purple

If you really want to make a statement go for a vampy shade of purple! It’s an unexpected shade for the lips but is so much fun to wear. When I wear a shade of lipstick this intense I tend to keep the rest of my makeup minimal so I don’t look like I’m getting ready for Halloween! Although, I do think ladies with deeper skin tones could wear this shade and a dramatic eye. Since there is less contrast for those with deep skin tones it wouldn’t look overly done and would look really sexy. But like I always say makeup is meant to be fun. So if you wanna go all out with the drama then you do you! I mean there’s always your favorite cleansing balm to wipe away the makeup at the end of the day.
