Hello, dazzling people and happy Monday! Today I am bringing you a review/unboxing of the January 2018 Birchbox! This is my first time ever receiving a Birchbox. I was gifted a three-month subscription to Birchbox from a friend for Christmas!
Birchbox is a monthly subscription box that gives you 5 samples tailored to your preferences. Once you sign up you fill out a questionnaire and Birchbox sends you products based on your answers. I love the personalization of the box because everyone has different needs and wants when it comes to beauty.
Beauty Protector – Condition/Shampoo (Full size, $23-$62.50)
First of all this shampoo and conditioner set smells. so. freaking. good! The sweet scent reminds me of vanilla birthday cake. Yummy, yum, yum! It is sulfate and paraben free and contains pearl powder which acts like the hair protein keratin. So far, I’ve only used this once but I thought it did a good job of getting my hair clean.
LAQA & Co. B’Lighters – Peacher’s Daughter (Full Size, $17)
This is a creamy highlighter and blush all in one! I was impressed with how easy it is to apply and how glowy I looked wearing it! You could easily layer on more of the blush to achieve a more intense look. The color is sheer enough to apply nose and forehead like you would with any other highlighter.
Jane Iredale Just Kissed Lip and Cheek Stain (Full Size, $25)
This lip and cheek stain is formulated to adjust to your body’s unique chemistry in order to create a customized shade. There are three shades available Forever Pink, Forever Peach, and Forever Red. I received Forever Pink. The stain is formulated with natural ingredients like olive and avocado oils and is gluten-free. This was probably my least favorite item in the box. While it is moisturizing and feels good on the lips it doesn’t really have any color! And it is also way too stick to wear on your cheeks. I tried it out and my hair kept getting stuck to it! I will continue to wear it as a moisturizer but I won’t be purchasing a full-sized one in the future!
Whish Botanical Primer (Full Size, $44)
Primers are all the rage right now but I have never really seen the point of them. I know they are supposed to smooth everything out and make your foundation last longer but I was never able to tell if it really works and the same goes for this one.
There are some things that I do like about this primer. It applies smoothly, contains seabuckthorn extract and argan oils. It is also sulfate, paraben, and phthalate free. Whish also uses naturally sourced and organic ingredients.
While I don’t think that I will be purchasing a full sized primer I would like to try out some other Whish products. Lately, I have been loving the Whish Mud Mask that I received in my FabFitFun Fall Box!
