Are you a lingerie lover but sick of keeping your favorite little lacy things all to yourself? Well, I’m here to show you that you can totally wear your lacy bodysuits and bralettes out at your favorite restaurant without looking overexposed! That’s right you can wear your sexy corsets out in public and still look chic. Keep reading to learn how to wear lingerie as outerwear just in time for your Valentine’s Day or Galentine’s Day dates!
How to Wear Lingerie as Outerwear
The key to how to wear lingerie as outerwear is to make sure that you balance out your tops and bottoms. What I mean by that is if your top is very form-fitting try wearing a flowy skirt or boyfriend jeans for your bottom. Layering pieces over or under your lingerie is also another way to make it more wearable. The lingerie is sexy enough on its own so adding layers or looser fitting components helps you to look less burlesque and more off-duty model chic.
Of course these are only my suggestions. I always say fashion is supposed to be fun so if you enjoy wearing your lingerie styled differently than go ahead and do yore thang babe!
Lacy Bodysuit + Jeans + Blazer
If you own a lacy bodysuit you can layer it underneath other pieces. One of my favorite ways to wear my lacy bodysuits is with a pair of straight leg or boyfriend jeans and a blazer. The loose-fitting jeans balance out the skin-tight top and the blazer offers more coverage. I love this look because the blazer adds a little more polish and instantly dresses up your outfit! Perfect for a dinner date with your boo.
Bralette + Plain Tee
How fun is this look? If you’re not into the deep-v or clinginess of a bodysuit then layering your lingerie over top a tee is the perfect alternative. The key to making this look work is to choose a shirt that isn’t too loose or big so that way when you put the bralette over top it doesn’t wrinkle or bunch up.
Corset + Boyfriend Jeans
I don’t normally wear corsets but I saw this one on AdoreMe.com and decided to challenge myself to style it for a date night. This first look just features the corset and a pair of straight jeans. I’ll warn you this isn’t the most comfortable outfit but daaang does my waist look snatched.
I love the way that it looks tucked into the jeans but I’d honestly wear it out for date night and immediately come home and get into my sweats. I don’t know how women used to wear those dresses with corsets back in the 1800s. Or maybe it’s just me and I tied it too tight…
Corset + Button-Down Shirt
Not into wearing a corset on its own? Layer it over top of a crisp white button-down. This look is a little more wearable and I could even see wearing it at a daytime event (depending on the type of event). You know, when that type of thing happens again. Again, this isn’t the most comfortable outfit due to the fact that I tightened the corset so much that I couldn’t breathe. But I do love this look it’s just the right amount of spicy!
Bralette + Mesh Top

This is more of a summertime look but wearing a bralette under your mesh top is the perfect way to show off your lingerie. I purchased this top off of Amazon a few years ago and get compliments on it all of the time. If you want to cover up a little bit more you could trade the bralette in for a bodysuit.
Bralette + Oversized Sweater
I love an oversized sweater in the wintertime. I don’t know about you but I am always cold! So a chunky sweater is a perfect option for this time of year. One of the ways I love to dress up my oversized sweaters is with a bralette peeking out from underneath. This bralette I am wearing is a halter style so even if your sweater isn’t off the shoulder you will still get a little bit of that lace peeking out.
Long Line Bralette as a Top

This last look is a look that I created for an AdoreME campaign using one of their bralettes and a pleated skirt from H&M. It’s such a simple look but I think that this is so fun for spring or early summer. You would really never know that this is a bra because it looks like a complete set with the high waisted skirt!
Now that you have some ideas on how to wear lingerie as outerwear – would you? Let me know in the comments below and check out this post for some other brands of lingerie that I love!
Just a side note – most of these pieces were gifted from AdoreMe (I’m part of their creator program) but this post is not sponsored. I just have an abundance of lingerie from them so I decided to figure out how to incorporate them into my outerwear!

Nice content! I never thought of combining a corset on top of a button-down shirt and a bralet with an off the shoulder sweater.
