I’ve always wanted to be someone who was really good at shopping at thrift stores and consignment shops. I have seen so many bloggers and YouTubers find some interesting pieces and make them their own! While I do have a few thrifted pieces in my closet I am often discouraged when I rummage through the racks at thrift stores as I usually go home empty handed!
I discovered Swap.com through Mavenx which is basically Pinterest only you have the opportunity to earn money with them. I’m still not quite sure how it as I have yet to really build up my profile. If you want more information about Mavenx click here! Mavenx occasionally sends their users information about different companies. When I saw that they were advertising Swap.com I knew I had to try them out! I mean it had to be much better than physically digging through piles of junk at my local thrift store!
The two items that caught my eye were this tunic and a lacey Democracy top!
The first item that I purchased was this pretty floral tunic for only $15. The unique design of purple and blue flowers really caught my eye and I thought it would be the perfect piece to add to my work wardrobe!
Even though it is labeled as a tunic it is more like a dress on my 5ft frame! I tried wearing it with a pair of super skinny jeans but decided that for me it looked best with leggings! Maybe on someone who is a bit taller it would go well with jeans.
I added this floppy hat I purchased from Charlotte Russ a few years ago for an extra boho vibe. I have to say that I would not usually go for a tunic in this style. It is a little more boho vintagey than what I would normally go for. But hey! I think it looks pretty good on me and what is the point of going thrift shopping if you aren’t going to step out of your comfort zone!
The next item that I purchased was this interesting lacey top by Democracy. This piece was brand new with the labels and only $15. Initially, when I saw this top on the site I thought it was really pretty and different. When my package arrived and I pulled it out I was hesitant because it kinda reminded me of a tablecloth or a doily!
Once I tried it on I decided that I liked it again! Although I am not sure how I will be styling this piece in the future. There was just something kinda off about the way that I was wearing it. I think maybe with a nude colored tank underneath or some high waisted pants and a bralette instead.
Overall I am really happy with my purchases from Swap.com. It was a fun way to try out some new items that I wouldn’t normally have tried! And I can do it all without worrying about spending too much money. Not to mention that it is way easier to thrift shop online than it is at a store. Not saying that you should abandon your local thrift shops! I’m all for supporting your local businesses but if you can’t find what you need there you know that the internet can always have your back.
Do you like to go thrift shopping? If so what are some favorite pieces that you have thrifted?
