What’s up dazzlers? It’s time for another capsule wardrobe post and this time we are talking about basic shoes to have in your closet!
I can’t believe that it’s already time for part 5 of our capsule wardrobe series! After this, there is only one more post left in the series. I actually wanted to have this post up last Monday but somehow my completed draft got deleted! I was so upset because I had everything ready to go and I pretty much had to start over from scratch! Anyway, these things happen and so you just have to go with the flow.
If you’re just joining us I’ve been putting up a post each week with details about how to create a capsule wardrobe. I have been meaning to create one myself for a while so I figured we could do this together! A capsule wardrobe is basically a collection of basic pieces to have in your closet that you can wear for years to come. If you want more details on why you should start one see my post called What is a Capsule Wardrobe? And Why You Need One. If not keep readying for the basic shoes you need to include in your capsule!

Basic Shoes for Your Capsule Wardrobe
I pretty much live in booties from October to April because they are so versatile and you can pair them with so many different outfits. When looking for a bootie to add to your capsule wardrobe try to pick out something with a low heel that is also comfortable. I also prefer to have at least one black and one brown pair in my closet.
You have to have at least one pair of sneakers in your wardrobe for casual days when you’re out running errands. Or for when you want to go for the athleisure look. I would suggest a pair of crisp white sneakers in the style of your choice. Addidas, Converse, Puma, Surpurga, and Vejas are all brands that carry white sneakers that will never go out of style. I tend to go for a low-top sneaker but if high tops are more your thing you could go with that too. Or maybe you’re more into an athletic look. It’s all about picking the sneaker that you feel best in and will go with the pieces in your closet.
Flats are your BFF for days when you want to look a little more polished but can’t be bothered with heels. The style of flats you choose is up to you and you’re personal style. You could choose from a loafer, mule, slingback, or pointy toe flat. I have two pairs of flats in my collection a black pair and a nude pair.
As a petite woman heels are a must! Not only do heels make me feel sexy but they are perfect when I don’t feel like having my pants tailored! Lately, I’ve been loving a chunky heel but if you’re going to only own one pair I’d go with classic pumps like this Stuart Weitzman style. I’d also make sure that they are comfortable and no higher than three inches. Remember we want these to look good with any outfit and for any occasion. My color of choice is black but you could do a nude heel as well!
Tall Boot or OTK Boot
Over the past few years, I’ve traded in my tall boots for OTK boots but either style could work really well in your closet. I’ve found that over-the-knee boots are great for adding warmth and chicness (is that a word??) to almost any outfit. Again, when picking out a boot make sure that you go for something comfortable and a reasonable heel (again no more than three inches). I could see getting a ton of use out of these camel-colored boots and these black ones!
Rain Boot / Snow Boot
A rain boot or snow boot is a must-have! You never know what the weather is going to bring so you have to be prepared. Especially if you live in a city where you have to do a lot of walking. The last thing you want is to arrive at work in rain-soaked shoes. When it comes to rain boots everyone talks about the Hunter brand but you could definitely find more affordable brands like this style from Amazon.
I pretty much live in sandals in the summertime. As much as I love a trendy pair of sandals for the summer it’s not always practical. You could easily get away with one classic pair of casual sandals for the summer months. There are so many styles that you could choose from but for your capsule collection go for a comfy pair that you can wear often. I love these sandals that I found at Target or you could always go with the classic Birkenstocks.
