Although I don’t wear them often I love a pair of false eyelashes There is something about rockin a pair of long lashes that makes me feel extra glamorous. The only thing stops me from wearing them on the regular is the messy glue and how it can be tricky to get them looking just right. So when I spotted these magnetic lashes from Ardell at Walgreens I had to scoop them up!
I have been hearing about the magnetic lashes from One Two Cosmetics for a while now but the $69 price tag was more than enough for me to stick to my glue on lashes! While they had excellent reviews from other bloggers and YouTubers I just couldn’t justify spending almost $70 on false lashes. I could pick up a pair of brand new booties for that price! Or two if I’m shopping at Target! Have you been there lately? They have totally stepped up their fashion game!
Since One Two Cosmetics had such wonderful reviews on their magnetic lashes I figured that Ardell’s lashes couldn’t be much different. And I was willing to spend $13 to find out if they really are the game changer that they appear to be!
I purchased two different styles, the double whispies, and the accent lash. These lashes are reusable and each strip has 4 magnets (except the accent lash).
My first thought was that they look a bit too long for my eyes but I went ahead and applied them without trimming. Make sure that you put your mascara on first so that you don’t get any on the false lashes. You want to be able to reuse them in the future.
While I love the way these lashes look they were very tricky to put on. I spent a good 15 minutes trying to get all of the magnets lined up evenly! Even when I did finally get them on they looked a bit out of place. It wasn’t possible for me to get them close enough to the lash line.
I figured that they were too long for my eyes so I decided to cut off one magnet on both the upper and lower strip. Unfortunately, that did not work either. While they were more suitable to my eye shape they were still very difficult to get on.
In an effort to find an easier way to apply these lashes I searched YouTube and found this video. The woman in the video suggests cutting the lower lashes into threes so that you can have more control over the placement of the lash. This is the way that One Two Cosmetics sets up their magnetic lashes.
To my surprise, it worked! Or so I thought it did. While I was able to apply them more easily after a few hours they started to fall off! Not only that but I felt like I could see the magnets and the lashes felt a little heavy. Long story short I ended up trashing my demi whispies!
The accent lash
The accent lashes only have three magnets making them much easier to apply. It still took a little time to get them on just right but I think that it will just come with a little more practice. These were so much easier to wear! They felt light and the magnets did not bother me at all.
Magnetic lashes are a great concept but proved to be very difficult to apply and wear overall. Which is such a bummer because they are supposed to be easier than traditional lashes. I mean imagine if they actually worked! I would be wearing them all of the time! And while I did like the accent lash I usually prefer to wear a full strip of lashes. I really hope that Ardell reworks their design of these lashes because the concept is fantastic.
Have you tried magnetic lashes? If so did they work for you?
