Incorporate these fall fashion trends into your capsule wardrobe for a fun fresh take on your everyday outfits.
Fall is approaching and that means it’s time for a roundup of my favorite fall fashion trends. When doing my research for this guide I found it difficult to narrow down the list to only 7 trends. There were so many fabulous trends for the season that I was tempted to make this a two-part post. I decided to keep it simple with just 7 trends that way you can add to your fall essentials wardrobe.
Fall Fashion Trends 2021
I figured I would start with the most obvious trend of 2021 which is the 90s comeback. Even 90s grunge fashion is making a statement lately. While you might have noticed mom jeans, scrunchies, and cargo pants making a comeback but this time around we’re talking full-on head-to-toe 90s fashion. Think styles from Clueless, 90s J.Lo, and Drew Barrymore on the red carpet. I love that some of the styles of my childhood are making a comeback but I’ll probably only stick to one 90s trend at a time.
Loose-fitting jeans have been on trend for a while and they are going to still be going strong come the fall months. Not to mention we all know how Gen-Z pretty much tells us millennials that skinny jeans make us looks old. While I am not ditching my skinnies any time soon (the jeans from Colombiana are everything) I do enjoy a pair of loose-fitting jeans every now and then.
I was not expecting to see tailored vests on the list of trends for fall but I have to say that I’m not mad about it at all. Maybe it should be expected since this summer stars like Kendall Jenner were seen wearing vests as a top. Which I think actually looked very stylish and fashion-forward. For the fall you can wear your tailored vest over long-sleeved shirts (a button-down would look great). This is one style I might have to try out for myself!
Puffy or Quilted Handbags
Puffy and quilted handbags have been very popular over the past year and you are going to see a lot more of them this fall. This is a style that I’d be curious to see if it sticks over the years because it kinda reminds me of this Chanel bag. The quilted Chanel bag isn’t going out of style as it’s a classic that has stood the test of time. It would be fun to see these trendier puffy handbags stick around for years to come as well. If you’re looking for more handbag trends make sure to check out this post on handbags for summer. You can easily wear many of the styles for the fall and winter as well!
If you’ve been watching my stories over on Instagram then you know that I just love faux leather pieces. So when I found that colored leather was in for fall I was all about it! Colored leather is a fun fall fashion twist on traditional black. I would even say that colored leather takes a little edge off of the fabric.
Cozy Knit Sets
Cozy knit sets became a thing last fall when we wanted to get dressed up but still be comfortable since we were all still staying at home. I’m happy that knit sets are still a thing this year because whether or not I’m staying home look cute and being comfy is a win win combo!
Mixed Metal Jewelry
I have been seeing mixed metal jewelry everywhere lately. I first noticed that silver and gold jewelry mixed together was a thing during the Nordstrom Sale. In fact, I actually picked up this gold and silver chain necklace by Bauble Bar. Then I saw that XII by Adriene Haughton’s newly released gold/silver hoops and necklaces. I did a little more research and did see that a lot more brands are releasing mixed metal pieces and I am so here for it!
