The top 2021 summer fashion trends you need in your wardrobe!
Summer is just around the corner (seriously how is it already May?) and if you’re wondering what the hot items in fashion are for the season you’re in the right place. Earlier this year I wrote a blog post on the fashion trends for 2021. While many of those trends do cross over into the summer I wanted to highlight some of my favorite trends specifically for the summer months. And I’m actually really excited about it because here in New Jersey COVID restrictions are being lifted which means more IRL events! And more opportunities to wear these summer trends.
That being said it’s still super important not to take advantage of the ease of restrictions as the pandemic is still very much a thing. So when it’s necessary make sure to wear your cute mask and social distance.
2021 Summer Fashion Trends
Crochet and knit tops are going to be having a moment this summer and it’s giving me all the early 00s feels. I’m not always crazy about crochet pieces (Aside from a cozy scarf or hat) but I am actually really excited about this trend. I’ve been seeing a bunch of cute cropped knit tops that are going to look amazing with high-waisted pants and shorts. I am really loving this sunflower crochet top from Zara – now that one is really a throwback to the 90s!
I mentioned power shoulders in my fashion trends for 2021 post and are still going strong into the summer. This is one trend that I never knew that I would be all about. When I was younger I hated anything with puff sleeves or shoulder pads. Now I just can’t get enough!
Bold prints and statement patterns are a 2021 summer fashion trend that makes me oh so happy! I’ve been seeing bright colors and patterns all over the internet lately and which is perfect for your summer getaway (or staycation). I mean have you seen the Christopher John rogers Collection for Target? The pieces are incredibly bold, chic, and fun. I’m honestly awaiting May 16th as I have my eye on a few of his dresses. Fingers crossed that they don’t sell out too fast!
Wide Leg Pants
I have been loving the wide-leg pants for a while and this year they are back in a big way. Being only 5ft tall I used to think that wide-leg pants and jeans were my enemy. Ok, maybe I’m being a bit dramatic but you know what I mean. Wide pants can actually look uh-mazing on us shorties as long as they aren’t too loose or long for our bodies. Here’s a little tippity tip: if you can’t find wide-leg pants specifically for Petites try to get a cropped version. That’s what I did with these jeans from H&M in this Instagram post! The cropped version of these jeans ended up being the perfect length for my 5ft frame.
Sparkles and Sequins
Give. Me. All. The. Sparkle. When I found out that sparkles and sequins were on trend for the summer I practically jumped for joy. If the name of this blog wasn’t enough of a hint (dazzle, baby!). Anyways sparkles, glitter, and rhinestones are all in for the summer. Zara (they have soo many good items lately) has this gorgeous sparkle midi dress that I have my eye on but don’t really know if there’s anywhere I would wear it. And this fun sequin romper.
I’ve always loved a backless top or backless dress. There is just something so subtly sexy about showing off that part of your body. I recently purchased a neon green backless top from Zara. I know Zara again but I couldn’t help myself. I tried to see if it was on the site but it’s not. That’s ok because I was able to find a few more cute backless options.
Mini and Ultra Mini Skirts
When I discovered that mini skirts were back in style I didn’t really know how to feel. While I do love some of the trends that have returned from the 90s and early 00s I wasn’t really sure if the mini skirt was something that I wanted to revisit. However, after searching for mini skirts I found some really chic options. For example, this scalloped lace mini skirt from Express is so chic and could be worn for so many different occasions. Another great piece is the Margo Skirt from Reformation. These options are an updated twist on the mini-skirt trend of the early 00s and I am absolutely here for it!
There it is dazzlers! 7 2021 fashion trends you need to try out. Let me know in the comments which ones you would try and let me know what fashion trends you have been loving lately.
