As the heat rises the last thing that I want to worry about is picking out a stylish and comfortable outfit. That’s why a breezy summer dress is almost always my go to outfit in the summer. A good summer dress instantly makes you look put together without much effort. Not only that but they are so easy to take with you on your summer vacation!
Casual summer dresses are my go to outfit when the weather starts to heat up! Dress them up with a pair of dangly earrings and some wedge sandals. Or dress it down with your favorite pair of sneakers and some cool shades. Either way, you can’t go wrong with having a few comfortable summer dresses in your wardrobe!
Fit n flare dresses are one of my favorite styles of dress to wear because of their flattering shape. The cinched waist and flare at the hips give the illusion of an hourglass shape regardless of your body type. Not only that but I find the flared skirt so feminine and comfortable to wear since it doesn’t cling to your skin.
Here I am wearing a fit n flare dress from Old Navy in Neutral Camel. The neutral color and simple pattern make this dress easy to pair up with fun accessories or even a jacket when the weather starts to cool off.
If you’re interested in this dress you can buy it here but you better act fast as many of the other colors are selling out quickly. At under $20 who wouldn’t want to pick up this cute summer dress?
We have another fit n flare dress from Target. I have to say that Target has been killin it this season with the summer dresses, skirts, and rompers! I had to restrain myself from purchasing their entire collection because they had some really great pieces! I actually might have to do an entire Target fashion haul because I managed to pick up a few rompers and some other pieces on this shopping trip!
What drew my attention to this dress was the lovely color and the floral print! This is another dress that is going to make a great transition piece into fall. The colors are just muted enough for the change in season. Just add a pair of boots, a jacket, and scarf and you have a fabulous go-to fall outfit!
Flying Tomato Asymmetrical Dress 24.99 at Marshalls
I found this asymmetrical handkerchief dress while I was digging through the racks at Marshalls. If you follow my Instagram then you know that I am obsessed with shopping at discount stores like Marshalls, TJ Maxx, and Nordstrom Rack!
I saw this dress on the rack and immediately knew that I had to have it! The bright print on the dark fabric really pulls you in. The fabric on this summer dress feels durable but still light enough to wear on a hot summer day, which is good because there is quite a bit of fabric on this dress. I adore the cut, the length and how comfortable it is.
I was worried about it being too long and overwhelming my frame (I am only 5ft tall!) but I thought it was a good fit. I felt super glamorous wearing this flowy dress on a recent trip to Rome!
Unfortunately, I could not find this exact dress online but I did find a few similar dresses here and here (not under $30).
That’s the thing with shopping at discount stores you can never depend on finding the item you purchased online. Which might also be why I love shopping at these stores so much. You never know what you’re going to find!
What are your favorite dresses to wear for the summer? Not a dress person? What’s your favorite outfit to wear in the hot summer months?
Hey, lovely dazzlers! Hope you’re having a fabulous Monday! Today we are talking summer beauty products. It can be tricky finding products that work well in the summer heat so I am sharing the products that have been working for me this summer.
A good sunscreen facial lotion is essential throughout the year but it is especially important in the summer when the sun is the strongest. This one by Avene applies smoothly and is super lightweight so you can apply foundation over it without a problem. I love that this one has a high SPF of 50 and doesn’t leave your face feeling greasy!
I have been using oils to moisturize my skin and my hair lately. After I let my hair air dry I’ll rub a small dime sized amount of this over my hair for some extra shine and frizz control. If you are unsure about using oils for skin and hair check out this post. Once you start using oils for beauty you won’t wanna go back!
I don’t know about you but I absolutely can not shave my bikini line. It leaves my skin feeling irritated and I’ll get lots of razor bumps. I also find that waxing can be rather messy. For the past couple of years, I have been using this hair remover cream by Nair. Within 5 minutes I am able to easily rub off the hair on my bikini line revealing smooth bump free skin!
This is one of my favorite nail colors for the summer! It is so bright and cheery that I had to include it in this post. I thought this was a limited release but it looks like you can still purchase it online! Essie nail polishes are great long wearing nail polishes that usually stay looking fresh for about a week.
Pacifica roll on perfume trio in Indian Coconut Nectar, Tuscan Blood Orange and Island Vanilla
I have been searching for more natural perfumes or body sprays. There are so many unhealthy chemicals in conventional perfumes and I no longer feel comfortable using them on my skin every day. That is why I am loving these roll on perfumes made with natural oils by Pacifica. The scents are amazing and smell like a tropical vacation! So far I am really enjoying these tropical scents. They are easy to travel with and perfect for the warmer months. I can’t wait to try out some of the other scents they have available in their line!
How pretty is this roll on perfume oil from Blossom? This perfume comes in three scents sweet, fresh and floral. I purchased floral which is a blend of magnolia, vanilla bean, and white mimosa. This is a great summertime scent and since it contains jojoba oil it moisturizes your skin too!
If you want a full coverage foundation with a lightweight feel then this is the perfect fit. It contains hyaluronic acid which aids in smoothing out the skin. When you apply this foundation it just glides easily across your skin and covers up without looking cakey. It is easy to blend and lasts throughout the day.
I love a good coral lip color in the summer time. It really makes your tan pop and adds to that summertime glow look. I love the applicator of this lipstick and the intense pigmentation. It’s a great color to wear when you are sporting a minimal makeup look.
This is a really lovely nude peachy color that is great for everyday wear or when you don’t want your lip color to overwhelm the rest of your makeup! It drys matte and is long wearing so you don’t have to worry about constantly reapplying. It has been my go-to shade all summer long!
If you read about my FabFitFun spring box then you know that I choose to add this product to my subscription box. Gold bomb is a creamy shimmer highlight that you can use on your face and body. I have been loving this shimmer as it gives you a beautiful summer golden glow which is perfect for day and night!
Sea salt spray is must have for the summer months when you don’t want to fuss too much with your hair. All I do is spray this stuff on and let my hair dry! Bonus: it smells like lavender and it is organic!
Although my skin does not usually burn in the sun, for some reason my lips are very prone to sunburn! That is why I need a chapstick with a high SPF like this one from Sun Bum. Sun Bum is free from parabens and is infused with aloe and vitamin E to keep lips soft. Not to mention they smell like a tropical paradise!
What summer beauty products are your favorite? I am always looking to add to my summer beauty collection. Leave a comment below or on my Instagram page!

FabFitFun tends to feature smaller companies and companies that are doing amazing things like donating to charities or making a positive change in the world.
Fabfitfun partners with a different charity for each box. This season they have partnered with the Joyful Heart Foundation. The Joyful Heart Foundation focuses on creating a world free of sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse. They strive to provide survivors with services and work education the world on these topics and strive to end the violence
With this subscription box, you are not only getting some really cool products but you are helping out a good cause!
This item is limited edition for the FabFitFun summer box. It is a very versatile item because you can wear it as a scarf, sarong, or poncho. It comes in three prints you can see here. The print I received was the Batik Print which is actually my favorite of the three options on their site. This piece is so light and comfy I know it will become a staple piece for the summertime! Bonus: 25% of each ruana sold supports Joyful Heart Foundation.
This Mystic Mystic Bar Necklace is handmade by craftsmen in India. The necklaces are made of semi-precious stones that can have a different effect on your body! There were three options that you could’ve received in your summer box. I received a white stone called howlite which enhances intuition and promotes calmness. The other two options were turquoise which promotes balance, discovery and confidence or peach moonstone which provides strength inner peace, and growth.
How cute is this BPA-free glass bottle! I always take a reusable water bottle or two with me where ever I go and this is a perfect addition to my collection. I love the bright color and how the pink rubber cover keeps it dry! Check out the website for some more cute colors and prints. I am loving the spiked sets and the ones with the heart prints!
I was really excited to receive a product from Juice Beauty. I have used Juice Beauty moisturisers and cleansers in the past so I am already a big fan of their products! This eye concentrate helps to brighten up the eye area and smooth out fine lines. I love how the line contains such natural ingredients like jojoba oil, avocado oil, primrose, carrot, cucumber and vitamin P! I am excited to try out this cream on a daily basis!
I am always looking for the perfect lightweight sunscreen for my face in the summer. This time around I don’t have to go out of my way to find one because FabFitFun has got me covered! This sunscreen contains SPF 50+ UVA/UVB filters and is enriched with antioxidants. It’s doesn’t feel sticky and leaves your skin feeling perfectly hydrated!
I have yet to try out this massage oil but I can tell you it sure does smell good! It is formulated with a blend of sweet almond, apricot kernel, and jojoba oil which helps the skin to retain moisture and it also contains German chamomile which cools any sore areas on your body.
A good highlighter is definitely a must have as far as summer beauty essentials are concerned. Cargo HD Picture Perfect Highlighter goes on velvety smooth and is natural enough to wear when going for a minimal makeup look. I don’t like to wear too much makeup in the summertime but I still like to look glowy. This highlighter accomplishes just that. No harsh streaks or chunky glitter here!
How adorable is this little Himalayan salt kit? I have been into pink Himalayan sea salt lately but I have never tried it in block form like this! I am excited to try it out in some dishes. If you need help deciding how to use it FabFitFun has an article called 3 Ways to Get Salty With Your Himalayan Pink Salt Kit.
Collagen powders have been trendy in the wellness space lately. It is said that collagen promotes a healthy complexion, strong nails and hair. This sample contains 10 grams of natural collagen protein in each serving! Simply mix it into your favourite hot or cold beverage.
Are you guilty of surfing the web or working on your latest blog post before you go to bed? I know I am! The blue light that emits from your computer is the last thing that you should be seeing before you go to bed. The blue light disrupts the melatonin in your body and tricks your body into thinking it is daytime. This could be impacting your sleep by not allowing your body to fully shut down for the night. Not only that but staring at the computer screen too much can have an impact on your vision.
These glasses work to eliminate the blue light from your computer screen so that if you absolutely must be on the computer at night at least you can take away some of the blue light. It also works to reduce the strain that staring at a screen can have on your eyes! I was very impressed with how well these glasses are made and how fashionable they look! I could definitely tell the difference in the brightness and color of my screen when I put them on.

Welcome back lovely dazzlers! This is part 2 of my experience at the Northside Festival in Brooklyn, NY. If you haven’t heard of the Northside Festival then check out part 1 here to get the details! Let’s get into it from where we left off in the last post!
After a long day of walking around exploring the shops and art at the block party, it was time for a late lunch/dinner! I read good reviews about Alls Well Pub on Bedford Ave and let me tell you it did not disappoint! Alls Well serves breakfast until 4 pm so I made it just in time for some huevos rancheros with crema and cotija cheese. It was very spicy but I ate every last bit and cooled off with a grapefruit Paloma!
After dinner, we headed to McCarren Park and got there around 4:15. To my surprise, there wasn’t much of a line yet so we were able to get amazing spots (there was no seating just first come first serve). Inside the venue, there were food trucks, ice cream, and drinks being served. They were also selling mats just in case you wanted to sit on the ground at any time during the concert. I was lucky enough to have the Gypsy 05 Boho Beach Roundie I got from my spring FabFitFun box with me! It was a perfect size and the boho vibe was perfect for a festival cute!
Time for Music!
The show took a while to get started but at 6:30 the first artist took the stage. Saro is a indie pop artist from LA who was performing on the East Coast for the first time. You can check out his EP In Loving Memory here!
BJ the Chicago Kid
The next artist to take the stage was BJ the Chicago Kid. He performed his r&b hits and did a few covers for all of the r&b lovers in the crowd (love me some old Usher hits). You can listen to his latest here. BJ the Chicago Kid really got the crowd singing and groovin along!
The last performer was Miguel! I have been a fan of Miguel since around 2010 so I was really excited to see him live. I just loved his energy and his vocals (he is such a good singer!!). If you haven’t heard Miguel’s music before you should definitely try it out! One of the reasons I am such a big fan is because he is not your typical R&B singer. I would say his music is based in soul but he blends in elements of rock, hip-hop, and funk. It’s hard to put a label on his music because it has so many influences. One thing is for sure he is a rock star on stage! If you’re interested in hearing his music check him out here. I also have some videos of the event on my Instagram.
I will for sure be looking out for Miguel’s next tour or performance dates. He is one of my favorite artists and after seeing him perform live I am an even bigger fan! If you haven’t heard Miguel’s music click here for a taste!
Music festivals and concerts are some of my favorite things to do in the summertime and this one did not disappoint! What artists do you enjoy to see in concert? Have you been to any festivals this season?
Hello, lovely dazzlers! Today I am sharing with you a quick post on my day trip to Brooklyn over the weekend for the Northside Festival! If you haven’t heard of it before the Northside Festival is a five-day event where you can experience new music, art, and speakers on a range of topics.
Northside Festival in Brooklyn, New York
There are two main events at the Northside Festival from June 7-11. Northside Innovations (June 7-9) is geared toward entrepreneurs and innovators. It includes interviews, panel discussions, talks, workshops and more. Northside Music (June 8-11) and included headliners Dirty Projectors, Kamasi Washington, Miguel, and a punk/emo marathon with Thursday and PUP. There were options to purchase a 5-day badge for all events, a 5-day badge for only music or innovations or you could buy a single ticket for one show.
Since I knew I would only be in Brooklyn for one day I purchased tickets for the Miguel concert featuring BJ the Chicago Kid and Saro!
**BTW if you aren’t using Bands in Town you should definitely get on it! Bands in Town is a really cool app where you can follow your favorite music artists and you will be notified if they are performing in your area. This is how I found out about the festival. As soon I saw that Miguel was going to be performing in Brooklyn I knew I had to scoop them up!
I knew it was going to be a hot day so I decided to wear this light maxi dress I got from Charlotte Russ. I purchased it about a month ago and have been dying to wear it. Isn’t the pattern so much fun? And the sleeves add a little extra something without being too heavy for the warm weather.
I didn’t take any pictures of myself with the dress on in the city because I totally forgot! I guess that’s what happens when you are having fun. You don’t really think about what you are wearing and you just enjoy the moment! If you want to see what this dress looks like on, I am going to be putting out a post of my favorite summer dresses soon so stay tuned!
Back to my day trip to NYC!
The concert was scheduled to start at 6 with the gates opening at 5 but we wanted to leave some time to walk around and enjoy the city since we don’t go into NYC too often.
Our first stop was Bryant Park and the New York Public Library. If you have never been to the New York Public Library you really should check it out. It’s not just a library the building itself is a work of art and there are exhibitions that you can check out.
I wish we could’ve explored the library more but it was time to get to Brooklyn for shopping and food!
When we got off the subway in Brooklyn we noticed right away that there was a block party going on! I totally forgot that this was a part of the Northside Festival!
The block party included live music, people painting blank walls, food, handmade jewelry sellers and more!
I picked up these cool sunglasses at a little boutique. It doesn’t really go with my patterned dress but they are so cute I had to wear them all day! I love how you can see my BF in the mirrored lens! He looks so confused!
Wanna see more from The Northside Festival? Stay tuned for part 2 coming this Thursday! Follow me on social media or Bloglovin so you don’t miss a post!
I fist read about the corset trend making a comeback in the Wall Street Journal back in March. The article started off with an interesting observation about how the corset was originally created to exaggerate the female form. This was a symbolic of the second class status of women back in the 16th century. While there is still some controversy surrounding the corset (think waist trainers used by the Kardashians) the popular spring trend is not so much focused on creating a tiny waist as it is on just adding a little something extra to your outfit.
When I think of a corset I usually think about the 16th century corseted dresses that made a woman’s waist appear insanely small and squeezing her tightly all the way up to her bosoms. Not exactly something I would want to wear on a daily basis…or at all!
Instead of the traditional style that covers the entire torso, fashion bloggers and celebs are wearing a thinner corset that is placed around the middle of the waist. This gives the look a more relaxed feel while still defining the waist.
At first, I didn’t like the idea of the corset being worn in this way. It can look sloppy and unflattering if not you’re not careful as to what top you pair it with. After further researching the trend I found some bloggers wearing it in a way that really accented their bodies and outfit in a flattering way.
Here are a few belts that I found Polyvolor that I thought could look stylish paired with the right top.
If you have been reading the blog then you know that I love a good off the shoulder top for spring and summer. On a recent post, I talked about how these tops have made a comeback in a huge way and how I like to style them. I was browsing Polyvore and I couldn’t help but check out a few more off the shoulder tops! I think a few of these will be making their way into my closet very soon! The best part is all of these tops are under $30
2.White Black Off the Shoulder Floral Blouse $15 at Make Me Chic – I love this blouse for the cinched waist and the pretty black flowers. The detail at the waist almost makes it look like a peplum top which I usually find very flattering. The structuredness of this top paired along with the black flowers gives it a sophisticated feel. You can dress it up for special occasions or wear with jeans for a more casual affair.
3.Yellow Frilled Pleated Off The Shoulder Top $16 from The Romwe – Have any of you purchased clothes from The Romwe? They have so many cute inexpensive clothes and I am wondering what the quality is like! In any case, I am loving this yell frilly off the shoulder top. The bright color is right up my alley and is perfect for summertime!
Ice cream, frozen yogurt, and milkshakes are all delicious ways to beat the heat in the summertime.Unfortunately, these options are not usually the healthiest options especially if you go heavy on the toppings. Luckily you can always make your own frozen treats at home! Today I have combined three of my favorite foods banana, chocolate and almond butter. Try out my Frozen Chocolate Almond Banana Bites recipe. Do you have a recipe for a healthy frozen treat? Let us know in the comments below!
If you couldn’t tell I have been into homemade lemonade this summer! Nothing like some ice cold lemonade to cool off from the heat. I had been looking for something to do with the lavender that I had dried from my herb garden and I figured it would be fun to make lavender lemonade.
I like a strong lavender flavor so I used about 3 tablespoons dried lavender in this recipe, but feel free to adjust the amount you use to your liking. There is no added sugar to the recipe so friends and family can add sweetener to their liking.
I like to serve simple syrup along with homemade lemonades or iced teas so that guests can add the amount of sweetness that they prefer. Lavender simple syrup seemed like the perfect addition but I wasn’t sure how to make it. A quick google search solved the problem and I found this recipe from Perpetual Chic. Not only does it give the lemonade added lavender flavor but it gives the lemonade a bright purple color!
Hope you enjoy this recipe. Let us know your favorite summer drink recipes below.
1 cup boiling water
3 cups cold water
1 1/2 cups freshly squeezed lemon juice
3 tablespoons dried lavender (fresh will work as well)
Bring one cup of water to a boil. Add the lavender and let steep for 20 minutes or more (several hours for a stronger flavor). Strain the mixture and dispose of the lavender flowers. Pour the infused water into a pitcher and add 3 cups of cold water, and 1 1/2 cups of lemon juice. Serve with ice and lavender simple syrup on the side.

Summer is here and what better way to celebrate than to whip up a batch of ice cold lemonade? You can’t beat a glass of iced cold lemonade in the summer after a hot day in the sun and I’m not talking about that powdered stuff you get in a box. I actually thought that I didn’t like lemonade for years until I had homemade lemonade from a cute little healthy restaurant. The only lemonade I had tried before that was that fake powder from a box! What’s even better about homemade lemonade is that you can experiment and try adding different flavors to your fresh squeezed lemon juice. Since the mint in my herb garden as been growing like crazy, I decided to try out a refreshing ginger mint flavored lemonade. Try it out and let me know what you think!
Ginger Mint Lemonade
1 cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/2 cup of agave nectar or honey
a handful of fresh mint leaves.
1/2 cup of chopped ginger
Bring 6 cups of water to a boil in a pot on the stove. Remove from the heat, add the ginger and mint cover the pot. Let it steep for about 40 minutes. Strain the mixture into a pitcher. Add the lemon juice, 2 cups of cold water, and agave or honey. You may add more lemon juice or agave to your liking.
Remember, you can always adjust the amount of herbs, sweeteners, and lemon juice to suit your personal taste. You can even leave out the agave or honey for unsweetened lemonade. Feeling daring? Check out this post for my Rosemary Lemonade Recipe.
