Influenster Playa Voxbox Review

Influenster

It has been a while since I have received a Voxbox from Influenster but I finally got one! My Playa Voxbox came in the mail just a few days ago! If you’re not familiar with Influenster they are a community of reviewers who share opinions on various products and test products for free based on their social media presence. To learn a bit more about Influenster and what types of goodies you can get for free check out this post on the Goddess Voxbox I received last summer.

Here are the 5 items that came in the Influenster Playa Voxbox

Frank’s RedHot Original Cayenne Pepper Sauce

Frank’s RedHot Cayenne Pepper Sauce is already a staple in my pantry. I love spicy food and this is the best one around so you can’t go wrong with it. It’s a classic and I was excited to get on for free!

Coupon for free Daisy’s Squeeze Sour Cream

If I buy sour cream I usually reach for Daisy’s however, I have yet to try out the squeezable product. I don’t like sour cream as a topping so the container that it comes in doesn’t really matter to me. I only purchase sour cream to use in baking recipes. However, for all you sour cream lovers out there, I’m sure the squeezable pouch will come in handy!

Radiant Toothpaste by Colgate Optic White

I haven’t used Colgate brand toothpaste in a few years because I have switched to an all natural brand. I have been in the process of switching over to more natural products and Tom’s Toothpaste doesn’t clog my pores! Did you know that if you’re prone to white or blackheads around your mouth area it could be your toothpaste! Since I switched over to a natural brand I no longer experience breakouts along my mouth and jaw! Even though I am now loyal to my natural toothpaste I did try this one out and it left my mouth feeling fresh and clean. I will be taking this cute little tube travelling on my summer vacation.Influenster

Eva NYC Purse Perfect Hair Towelettes

These towelettes contain argan oil and omegas 3,6,7 and 9 to instantly calm frizz and add shine to your hair. I love that if you’re in a rush you can just throw them into your purse and go! These adorable and tiny packets are also perfect for travelling. Not to mention they smell so good and will have your hair shining with one simple swipe of a towelette!

Suave Body Lotion

This lotion smells so good! This body lotion has cocoa and shea butter in it and smells so good! I seriously love the smell of cocoa butter I really can’t get enough! Even though this lotion contains cocoa and shea butter the consistency of it is still very light. It is great if you don’t need too much moisture on a daily basis. I have very dry skin so this works for me in the summertime but in the winter I will have to switch to something thicker.

Have you tried out Influenster? If so how do you like being a part of their program? I’ve been a member since 2011 and I always get excited to try out new products. It’s like getting a birthday gift in the mail…only it’s not your birthday!

7 Reasons to Purchase an Essential Oil Diffuser

Essential oil diffusers seem to be gaining popularity. You can find them in more and more stores these days (even Target!). I have even been coming across different products containing essential oils. I first discovered the essential oil diffuser about a year ago. It seemed like such a great way to add wonderful scents to the home. What I didn’t realize was that the essential oils being emitted into the air can have such a positive effect on your mind and body!

Remember when you are purchasing essential oils you want to make sure that the oils are organic and sourced properly. The oil blends that I am showing you on today are from Healing Solutions. Although, on the Healing Solutions website it’s stated that the oils are pure and high quality they are not organic. For that reason, this set would not be my first choice but it was gifted to me so it is what I have been using. Even though they are not organic they still smell wonderful but for that reason, I probably wouldn’t add them to any skincare products.

As always it is important to do your research (especially if you’re pregnant or taking specific medications) the effects certain oils can have so I recommend reading this article from The Wellness Mama for more information before diving in and trying them out!

1. Safer than traditional candles or incense

With an oil diffuser, you don’t have to worry about the dangers of an open flame and you can leave it on unattended for several hours. Not only that but traditional candles and incense contain toxic chemicals that are released into the air once lit. Some of these hazardous chemicals are benzene and toluene which can cause allergies, asthma, and even cancer. There is a great deal of research that backs up these claims and I can’t even begin to explain it here. If you want more information to check out The Wellness Mama and this Huffington Post article.

2. Pain Relief

Certain essential oils can actually aid in pain relief. In fact, I have two blends that are for pain relief! One is for headaches and the other is for tense muscles. When you use an essential oil diffuser you are breathing in the essential oils which then, in turn, has a positive effect on your mind and body.

The set from Healing Solutions came with 2 blends for pain relief:

Deep Muscle Relief – Wintergreen, Peppermint, Chamomile Blue, Eucalyptus, Camphor Oils

Head Ease – Lavender, Peppermint, Wintergreen, Basil, Frankincense, Rosemary, Sweet Marjoram, Sweet Orange Oils

3. Relaxation and Sleep

When you use essential oils such as lavender and chamomile it has a relaxing effect on the brain helping you to relax faster and fall soundly asleep. I enjoy letting my diffuser in my room run for about an hour before I start winding down for the day so when I walk in I can instantly smell the lavender and feel relaxed. I also try to take a few breaths inhaling the scent and maybe even doing a few yoga moves before I turn in for the night.

Good Night Blend – Chamomile, Clary Sage, Copaiba, Lavender, Peru Balsam, Sandalwood, Sweet Marjoram, Ylang Ylang

The Stress Relief Blend is also really good for relaxation

Stress Relief – Bergamot, Patchouli, Blood Orange, Ylang Ylang, Grapefruit Oils

4. Can aid in purifying the air

Just like the rock salt lamp post I did a few months ago, the essential oil diffuser can aid in purifying the air! Certain oils such as thyme, clove and cinnamon bark can actually kill fungus and bacteria in the air! This can help to keep yucky viruses out of the home causing you to experience fewer coughs and colds. I do notice a difference in the air quality when I have my diffuser on. It’s almost like a humidifier in how it makes the quality of the air so much fresher.

5. Breathe Easy

I absolutely loved my diffuser when I was all stuffed up in the winter! I used the breathe right blend to help me to breathe better. Perfect for those days when you’re feeling stuffy or can’t stop coughing. Inhale deeply and it will really clear out the nasal passageways!

Breathe Blend – Peppermint, Rosemary, Lemon, Eucalyptus

6. Mood Booster

Feeling down? Essential oils can help uplift and boost your mood! Lemon, sweet citrus, lavender and rosemary oils all have uplifting and energizing properties.

7. Immunity Booster

Essential oils carry out nutrients and oxygen which can aid in boosting your immune system. Perfect for the cold winter months when viruses like the flu and colds are spreading. Lavender, peppermint, and lemon are just some of the essential oils you can use to boost your immune system.

Health Shield Blend – cinnamon, clove, eucalyptus, lemon, rosemary oils

Since I have gotten my diffuser I use it pretty much every day and it makes such a big difference in the way I feel! My favorite is the good night blend. It smells so good and makes me feel super relaxed at night!

Even if you don’t have an essential oil diffuser there are so many ways to use these oils and benefit from them in your everyday life. You can add them to lotions, homemade cleaning products, homemade body scrubs or shower gels.

Do you use essential oils? How do you use them?

Planning 2017: The Secret To Productivity

Start your year off on a positive note!

Using a planner daily can help you to keep your life organized and achieve your goals!

Moleskine planner and the Law of Attraction Planner

Do you plan out your day? How about your week? Your entire year?

I haven’t kept a planner since I graduated college. Usually, I just keep a running list of things to do on a notepad or post-it notes. But as for actually scheduling out my day, that hasn’t happened in years! I actually haven’t even thought about purchasing a planner because I figured I really don’t have any deadlines or homework to do. What’s the point? Am I right?

Well, it turns out keeping a planner could be a huge benefit in keeping your life in order and increasing your productivity! This is something that I didn’t think of until I received a Moleskine planner in my winter Fab, Fit, Fun box.

I definitely was not expecting to receive a planner in my winter box! I did think it was a pleasant surprise and figured that I could use a little more planning in my life.
There is a lot of detail inside this cute little planner, which is something that I did not expect.

This is the weekly calendar with a section for additional notes.
If you’re a traveler there is a section that can help you to plan out your trips. It has flight durations, international holidays, and time zone information.
I liked this planner and thought it was really cute, but then I received the Law of Attraction Planner as a gift. It’s the black one underneath!
It literally has room for you to plan out your entire day by the hour! When I first cracked it open I thought no way! Plan out my entire day! That’s crazy and I’ll never stick to a strict schedule. So, I tossed it aside in frustration.

A few days passed before the new year and I decided to take another look at the planner. I realized that this planner is much more than just scheduling out your day to the exact hour. It is filled with steps that you can take to achieve your goals, build positive habits and find inner peace. What a pleasant surprise! It wasn’t just about planning your day but achieving your life goals.
The front of the planner is filled with questions to ask yourself so that you have an empowered day, action steps to achieve your goals and daily affirmations. The idea with this planner is to use the Law of Attraction in order to create the life that you want. It helps you to take a deeper look at your life and decide what it is that you want to achieve.

There are spaces to fill in goals you want to achieve, habits you want to change and even a mind map for your daily action plan.

I couldn’t help but think that this might be just what I needed. This will be especially helpful in keeping up with my blog as I have definitely been slacking! I love that there is so much more to this planner than just writing a to-do list. I am going to try to make it a habit of sitting down every Sunday to plan out my week.

I’m looking forward to using this planner as a part of my weekly/daily routine. Getting into the habit of using a planner is a great way to start off the new year!

Do you use a planner? If so what do you use it for?  Is it like the Law of Attraction planner or more like the Moleskine planner?

Book Review: You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero

IMG_0326

I have been really into reading books about self-improvement lately as a result of the anxiety that I have dealt with since becoming a teacher in 2013. Unfortunately, I had a really rough first year teaching in a small K-8 school and ever since then I have had to learn how to deal with anxiety. On a quest to learn how to minimize negative thoughts and shift my perspective on life I have been reading a lot of self-improvement books.

One of my favorite things to do is go to Barnes and Nobles and look through all of the books in the self-help section. I make a list of books that look interesting and then I go to my local library to see if they have the book. Public libraries are such a great resource and taking a book out before you buy it can save you a lot of money! If I find a book particularly helpful I will then go out and purchase it.

While I was browsing at Barnes and Noble a bright yellow book entitled You Are a Badass caught my eye. This book looked so happy and inviting that I had to give this book a chance. I mean who doesn’t want to be a badass?

You Are a Badass is filled with information about how to make small changes that will change how you view yourself and your life. It gives you inspiration that you need to really go after things that you want from life. Jen Sincero talks about how things like changing your environment, making a vision board and surrounding yourself with other badasses can have a positive impact on your life.

What I really love about this book is that it all comes back to learning to love yourself and giving more of yourself to the universe. Jen makes points out throughout the book that practicing gratitude and giving back to others plays an important part in discovering your inner badass. Something as simple as “Leaving a dollar more or ten dollars more for a tip than you normally would” can send positive energy to the universe and have a profound effect on your life and others as well.

IMG_0285

Throughout the book, there are also some actionable steps that can help you on your way to badassdom. Jen suggests building relationships with positive people, journaling and leaving mini notes with affirmations to yourself around the house for a pick-me-up. A recurring theme throughout is to stop playing small and trust that the universe has an important plan for you!

IMG_1366 (1)

If you do decide to give this book a chance (I definitely encourage you to) I suggest getting a pretty journal and taking notes. I love looking back into my journal and reflecting on my favorite parts of the book. I also put together an action plan of things that I want to accomplish after finishing the book in my brand new journal. Reading You Are a Badass left me feeling encouraged and inspired to make some changes in my life. It was just the kick in the booty I needed to make some changes and go after the things I want in life (like building this blog).

If you feel like you need a little inspiration and want to get more out of life then I would recommend this book. Go ahead try it out and start revealing your inner badass!

Book Review: “20 Something, 20 Everything”

women on beach

Why is it that people in their 20s always feel like they have to have it all together? The need to know exactly what they want in life, from jobs to marriage, and kids. Society expects teenagers right out of high school to go to college, start a career, get married, and have kids. What is it that makes us think like this? People are living longer than ever and yet we expect to have our lives figured out by the age of 25! Many 20 somethings feeling the need to live up to these expectations instead of enjoying the discovery of what they truly want.

As someone who is in my late 20s, I have been dealing with all of these issues. I feel like I should have it all figured out by now but I don’t. Sure I have a college degree and have been working in my field for several years but I am not sure if my career fits me. After months of research into other careers, I still haven’t found something that holds my interest or that I think I would be good at. I have this awful feeling that the clock is ticking and I am going to be stuck in my current situation if I don’t make a move soon.

Having a quarter life crisis?
Having a quarter life crisis?

As I was doing some soul searching I came across a book called 20 Something 20 Everything by Christine Hassler. I read the reviews on Amazon and it seemed that it was worth taking a look at. I ordered it to see exactly what it was all about and if it could help steer me in the right direction.

The book is 256 pages filled with stories and accounts of women who are currently in their 20s. These women explain why they feel stressed, unhappy, or pressure to fulfill certain expectations. 20 Something 20 Everything also has advice from women who have been through their 40s, 50s, and 60s. Throughout 20 Something 20 Everything, there are exercises that help you discover what makes you happy, who you are, and what you want to be.
A reoccurring theme in the book is “Who makes up these expectations?” and “Who are you trying to please?”. I found those two questions to be the most thought provoking. Most of the time people feel the need to fill expectations because they have been set by others. Why do you want to get married and have kids by the age of 30? What is the real reason? Is it something that you really want? Many people answered that it is what is expected of them or something they thought they were supposed to do.

This book resonated with me and I think that many women will be able to relate as well. Why do we feel that our life starts when we accomplish a particular goal? Our lives don’t start when we get married or get our dream jobs. Our lives are happening right now! Sure those are new and exciting chapters in our lives, but there is no reason you can not live in the moment. Enjoy simply being in your 20’s. We need to stop comparing ourselves to others who appear to be more successful, or happier. We don’t really know what is going on in someone else’s life unless we know them personally. Remember, someone may seem to have it all together on the outside but may be struggling with similar issues. While I am not going to stop trying to figure out what I want, I am going to make a conscious effort to enjoy my present life. This book has given me reassurance that I am not alone and to remember to enjoy life in the present.

Start enjoying the life you live now!
Start enjoying the life you live now!

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone struggling with where they are in their life. Not just 20 somethings but 30 somethings, 40 somethings or anyone struggling with where they are in life. Take the time reading the book, log your answers in a pretty journal with some nice pens. Reflect on your answers and revisit them often. Yes sometimes it is still a struggle and yes I still catch myself comparing myself to other people. This awareness is a huge step toward living a happier and more fulfilling life.

We to take more time to simply enjoy life and the experiences that you may have. You know what they always say, life is about the journey, not the destination.
