Review: Makeup Revolution Highlighters and Strobing Powders

Hey, there lovely dazzlers! If you haven’t noticed recently I have been on a Makeup Revolution kick! I can’t stop trying out the different products that they offer! I’ve was impressed with the quality and pigmentation of their shadow palettes and the strobing balm palette.
Today we are taking a look at some of the baked and strobe highlighters. They cost about $6 each and occasionally go on sale at Ulta. I purchased these when they were on sale for buy two get one free.

Vivid Baked Highlighters

Peach Lights

Peach Lights is a natural looking highlight that you can wear every day without looking like you’re going to hit up the club. This is the least pigmented of the four that I purchased but it still gives you a nice glow. It’s my least favorite of the four because I feel like it doesn’t really show up very well on my skin tone. I’m thinking it would look great on someone with a fairer skin tone. Personally, I like a little bit more drama in my highlighter! I think I will end up using this during the work week and for days I am going for a more natural look.

Here is a picture from my St. Patty’s Day post and I am actually wearing Peach Lights on my cheek bone and inner corners of my eyes.

Don’t mind the band-aid I was super clumsy and sliced my finger while cooking!! Eeek!

Rosegold Lights

Rosegold Lights is very pigmented and shimmery shade of pink. I had to purchase this one because I found it quite unusual for a highlighter to come in such a pigmented rosy color. This highlighter does have much more impact when applied and looks really pretty on the inner corners of your eyes. I don’t know if I’m completely sold on rosy pink highlighter. I feel like it’s more of a shimmery blush than anything else. Regardless, it is still a very beautiful shade and I may just end up wearing it as a blush than an actual highlighter.

Strobe Highlighter

Gold Addict

Gold Addict has to be my favorite of all the highlighters I purchased. The pigment is amazing and it is quite shimmery. I am in love with the way that it shows up on my skin and it photographs quite lovely. It is going to look amazing in the summertime with a tan and some bronzy eyeshadow to top it off. This one makes me feel like a glowy goddess! I am predicting that this is going to be my go-to highlighter in the summertime and for special occasions.

The look below is from my Makeup Revolution Palette Review post!

Holographic Lights

Holographic Lights is not nearly as intense as Gold Addict but it still will give you a lovely glow. It is actually a bit similar to the Ultra Strobe Palette in that it has a pretty iridescent/holographic appearance to it. It will give you more of a glowy unicorn look rather than glowy golden summertime goddess. I would wear this on a night out as the camera does pick up the shimmer quite nicely but I also wouldn’t be afraid to wear it during the day.

In the picture below I have the rosegold highlighter on the left side of my face and the gold strobing powder on the right side. I also put a bit on the inner corners of my eyes.
Have you ever tried Makeup Revolution’s highlighters? If so which ones and what did you think? Let me know in the comments or on Twitter and Instagram!

  1. I really like the rosegold highlighter you used in this post. I may have to give that one a try. I also like that you used it in the corners of your eyes as well.
